Personality Types: How To Identify The Different Kinds

Teaming

February 2022

culture of teamwork is vital to the success of your business. It’s especially important when you’re racing against the clock to beat an escape room! We’ve talked about some necessary traits that every team player needs to be successful – humility, hunger, and awareness – while working in a group of various personality types, but what exactly are those personality types?

Here at Red Door, we’ve recently partnered up with The Predictive Index whose innovative personality assessment will not only help you to understand your own personality type, but will also help you to understand other behavioral drives and how different personality types will work together. The PI breaks these behavioral drives down to four simple categories: Dominance, Extraversion, Patience, and Formality.

From The Predictive Index Blog “The Four Key Factors That Determine Workplace Behavior”:

DOMINANCE

“The degree to which an individual seeks to control his or her environment. Individuals who score high on this dimension tend to be independent, assertive and self-confident. Individuals who score low on this dimension tend to be agreeable, cooperative and accommodating.”

EXTRAVERSION

“The degree to which an individual seeks social interaction with other people. Individuals who score high on this dimension tend to be outgoing, persuasive and socially-poised. Individuals who score low on this dimension tend to be serious, introspective and reserved.”

PATIENCE

“The degree to which an individual seeks consistency and stability in his or her environment. Individuals who score high on this dimension tend to be patient, consistent and deliberate. Individuals who score low on this dimension tend to be fast-paced, urgent and intense.”

FORMALITY

“The degree to which an individual seeks to conform to formal rules and structure. Individuals who score high on this dimension tend to be organized, precise and self-disciplined. Individuals who score low on this dimension tend to be informal, casual and uninhibited.”

Everyone has their own unique combination of these personality characteristics that makes them who they are. Becoming familiar with these four personality traits and how they affect peoples’ actions will help you communicate, understand, and get along with people more effectively. We hope this quick personality guide helps you build and maintain more meaningful relationships with the people in your life!
