If I shout a cliché in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it hold any relevance? In this case the answer is yes.
Lou Holtz, former football player and head football coach of Notre Dame, once said, “Teamwork is the foundation of success. The three universal questions that an individual asks of his coach, player, employee, employer are: Can I trust you? Are you committed to excellence? And, do you care about me?” A team is made up of individuals working toward the same goal, and its achievements are dependent on how strongly the team was built. Enter TEAMING.
Now I know what you’re thinking, “You just made that word up. Isn’t that the same as team building?” Not completely. Team building is the term you’ve heard in almost every corporate setting. Maybe it was briefly mentioned in an office meeting or maybe you glanced over the words in an employee handbook. At its core, team building is motivating a group of people to work together effectively as a team, usually through cooperative activities and events.
